To the University Community,
The health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and the community in which we live must be our top priority.
As it relates to limitations on gatherings, we have already made the decision to cancel all University on-ground summer events, camps and conferences through Saturday, Aug. 8. In order to better meet our guiding principle to reduce the density on campus, we are extending the date of the limitations on events, camps and conferences through the end of 2020.
This applies to external non-University groups for both indoor and outdoor uses for such activities. In this way, we can take another positive step toward reducing the spread of COVID-19 by reducing contact points on our campuses.
Please note that this restriction applies to the Alton, East St. Louis and Edwardsville campuses, and includes community gatherings of small to large groups of people by external entities.
We will revisit the issue for spring semester events later this fall. Further guidance about University-sponsored events held on and off campus will be forthcoming soon.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we navigate through these complex times.
Be well and stay healthy,
Randy Pembrook, Chancellor
Denise Cobb, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Rachel Stack, Vice Chancellor for University Advancement
Rich Walker, Vice Chancellor for Administration
Jeffrey Waple, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
