SIUE Students,
First and foremost, thank you for your adherence to SIUE’s mandatory COVID testing protocols. Nearly 1,300 SIUE students have completed their mandatory re-entry test. COVID testing, combined with washing hands, watching distance, wearing masks and limiting bubbles will continue to help keep our campus and community safe.
As a reminder, students, faculty and staff who engage in on-ground campus activity during the mandatory re-entry testing period (Jan. 4-21), regardless of how brief or intermittent the campus contact, are expected to get a screening test within 48 hours of arrival to campus. Students and employees who are learning or working remotely and are not otherwise planning to be on campus do not need to participate in this mandatory testing.
Students who are awaiting re-entry testing results should severely limit in-person interactions to essential activities until re-entry testing results are received. Essential activities include:
- Participating in academic activities including classes, studying or research; in-person classes will continue, and study spaces will remain open
- Receiving a COVID-19 test or other medical care
- Purchasing food
- Going to your on- or off-campus job
- Engaging in an inpidual outdoor activity, such as running or walking
- Attending a religious observance
In alignment with SIUE’s People-Focused Health and Safety policies and Restore Illinois Tier 3 mitigations:
- All University programs and events, including student organizations and club sports events, will continue to be held virtually during Tier 3 Mitigations (this excludes academic activities as outlined above)
- Campus operations like textbook pick-up, University Housing move-in, and COVID testing will continue as planned following mitigation guidelines
- Distribution of materials related to University operations are permitted provided that the People-Focused Health and Safety Guidelines, and Event Safety Guidelines are followed
- The Student Fitness Center and other recreation facilities will continue to operate under limited capacity
- Dining facilities are carry-out only and seating around campus is extremely limited
Take care this holiday weekend,
Randy Pembrook, Chancellor
Denise Cobb, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Rachel Stack, Vice Chancellor for University Advancement
Morris Taylor, Vice Chancellor for Administration
Jeffrey Waple, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
