Campus Community,
In response to Sunday’s Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) COVID-19 resurgence mitigation for Region 4 in the state’s Restore Illinois plan, the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) has confirmed that restrictions to “meetings, social events and gatherings” does not affect classrooms at schools, colleges or universities. SIUE continues to follow IBHE guidelines to maintain classroom sizes to no more than 50.
In its thorough preparation for a safe fall 2020 semester, SIUE has its plan in place that all classrooms will maintain a distance of at least six feet among students, use face coverings and practice hand hygiene consistent with IDPH guidelines. In adding classroom space by utilizing meeting rooms in the Morris University Center (MUC), SIUE designed all other meeting room capacities at less than 25 individuals.
SIUE’s highest priority is the safety of its students, faculty, staff and guests.
Stay Healthy. Be well. Mask Up.
