Friends and Colleagues – In today’s update, let focus on masks and the expectations.
Facemasks: I hope everyone agrees that it is everyone’s duty to help keep our community safer. So to protect others, a facemask to cover the nose and mouth is available to each employee (although anyone may use their own mask). For good hygiene and to reduce germ spread, masks should be washed daily.
Facemasks are required by everyone in indoor common spaces or community settings that anyone can access, such as reception areas with walk-in access, restrooms, hallways, and the lobbies of buildings.
Of course we need to look out for one another, so if an employee has a documented health condition which makes wearing a facemask medically intolerable, contact the Office of Equal Opportunity, Access & Title IX Coordination (EOA) to explore options for an alternative to a facemask.
Masks are very important to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Some departments have bought extra masks to keep on hand in case someone forgets their facemask. One-time use masks can also be purchased by anyone at the Health Service Pharmacy in the Student Success Center or the Cougar Store in the MUC (next week), or the ESL Grants Director’s office on the ESL campus. Masks are so important, that any employee who refuses to wear a facemask properly, without a documented health condition, and who can’t maintain a 6-foot social distance, will be sent home without pay for refusing to adhere to workplace safety rules.
Unless prohibited for health reasons as described above, campus visitors are required to wear a face mask and observe the 6-foot social distancing protocol. Extra masks can be purchased by the department to keep on hand rather than turn a guest away. Masks are also available for purchase as noted above. Visitors who refuse to wear a mask should be asked to leave the campus. If a visitor refuses to leave, call campus police at ext. 3324.
Supplies: A reminder that we have masks, surface disinfectant, and bulk hand sanitizer refill for all offices.
- On the Alton campus, contact the Dean’s office or Agustin Bramwell.
- On the Edwardsville campus, a supply and refill station will be set up in the hallway of Peck Hall on Tuesday, June 9th and Thursday, June 11th from 10:30 – 12:30.
- On the ESL campus, contact the ESL Director of Grants office or Agustin Bramwell.
Parking: Beginning Monday, June 8th and through the end of the month, parking rules are reinstated. Be sure to park in the lot that corresponds with your purchased hang tag.
If you have a question, please send them to me by email or ext 2536 or call HR at ext 2190 and I’ll do what I can to help.
Thank you for all you do. Keep supporting one another and stay well.
