Friends and Colleagues – In today’s update, let me clarify and answer a few topics related to returning to work and working remotely.
Remote Work?: I recognize that some temporary remote-work arrangements were made under the Governor’s mandated Stay-at-Home Executive Order, but moving forward into Phase 3, it seems like the right thing to do is for SIUE to develop specific purposeful guidelines that protect the University and the employees. To that end, here’s the link to the Work-Remotely Guidelines and Agreement. These guidelines apply to Phase 3 only at this time. ITS and HR have developed an on-line Remote Work Request form that can be accessed here. (If you have any technical issues with the form, please contact the ITS Help Desk at (618) 650-5500 or via email at help@siue.edu)
If you can meet the terms of the Guidelines and Agreement, then we encourage you to talk with your supervisor, department head, or director about the possibility of working remotely. Together you can decide whether the remote site is adequate, both in terms of utility and safety. The University will only make on-site visits to the off-site workplace to determine if the work site is safe and free from hazards, to assess special accommodation requests, or to maintain, inspect or retrieve University-owned equipment, software, and supplies.
The Agreement should be used for both union and non-union employees alike. If you have a question, see the contact information below, but there is no need to check in with HR before submitting the Agreement requests.
Supplies: A reminder that we have masks, surface disinfectant, and bulk hand sanitizer refill for all offices.
- On the Alton campus, contact the Dean’s office or Agustin Bramwell.
- On the Edwardsville campus, a supply and refill station will be set up in the hallway of Peck Hall on Tuesday, June 9th and Thursday, June 11th from 10:30 – 12:30.
- On the ESL campus, contact the ESL Director of Grants office or Agustin Bramwell.
Building Hours and Parking?: Beginning Monday, June 8th and through the end of the month, all buildings on the Edwardsville and East St. Louis campus will be unlocked Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. and will remain locked on the weekends. Alton has their own building schedule and that schedule has been communicated to their employees. Parking also returns to its regular schedule and procedures. Be sure to park in the lot that corresponds with your purchased hang tag.
If you have a question, please send them to me by email or ext 2536 or call HR at ext 2190 and I’ll do what I can to help.
Thank you for all you do. Keep supporting one another and stay well.
