Dear Students and Colleagues:
Fall 2020 semester is right around the corner (although our School of Dental Medicine and School of Pharmacy students have already started!) While things may look a little different, I know all of us look forward to welcoming our students whether on campus or virtually.
Recent months have brought changes, uncertainty, and lots of questions. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the region, the country, and the world. Everything we have put in place for Fall 2020 was developed with the following priorities in mind: we want our community to thrive, our institution to remain open, and our students and employees to remain healthy.
I have reached out to our students to communicate the expectations we have for Fall 2020 semester. This means approaching life differently for a while, but I believe they are conscientious enough and mature enough to support our SIUE value of Citizenship.
We need everyone’s help to have a safe semester. We must all behave differently and make community health and safety a priority. This means no large gatherings, and always wearing face coverings in public spaces, practicing social distancing and washing your hands.
Please take time to review the following:
- COVID-19 Safety and Reporting training video
- COVID-19 People-Focused Health and Safety Policy
- Our Cougar Commitment – Community Health and Safety Pledge
- Let’s Clear the A-I-R training video
- Let’s Clear the A-I-R guide
- Report a COVID-19 Community Health and Safety Policy concern
Hold one another accountable using the “Let’s Clear the A-I-R" approach and reach out when you need help with that. You can report problematic behavior by using our online form if needed. Pledge to support our community at siue.edu/take-the-pledge and spread the word on social media!
Please visit the Student Care & Conduct website to access the tools above, and feel free to contact me at DeanofStudents@siue.edu with questions.
Stay well and have a great semester,
Kara Shustrin
