Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,
The Fall 2020 semester is off to a promising start thanks to your commitment to community health and safety! Seeing your smiling faces – or at least smiling eyes – back on campus is a welcome change from recent months.
We know that this new normal of face coverings and keeping our distance from one another is challenging. Please continue to take this seriously and do your part so our community will thrive, our institution will remain open, and our students and employees remain healthy.
- When you are inside, always wear a face covering over your mouth and nose. Exceptions are noted in the COVID-19 People-Focused Health and Safety Policy.
- When you are outside, wear a face covering anytime you can’t maintain a 6-foot distance between yourself and other people. So, if you are walking or sitting next to someone closer than 6-feet, please keep your face covering on.
- Make sure to wear your face covering correctly to make it as effective as possible.
- When not actively consuming food or drink, face coverings should remain in place, covering nose and mouth.
- Students, check out locations where you can get your SIUE reusable mask.
- Disposable masks are available in all classrooms and department offices.
- If you have been around someone who has tested positive or think you have COVID-19 symptoms, please fill out the COVID Self-Reporting Form online.
If you encounter a member of our community who isn’t wearing a face covering, please say something. Be an active bystander by taking action to promote safety for everyone.
We’ve created “Let’s Clear the A-I-R" training and resources to help make those interactions a little easier. It’s also important to acknowledge one another by taking time to say, “I appreciate you making our community health a priority by wearing a face covering … thank you!”
Take care and stay well,
Randall Pembrook, Chancellor
Denise Cobb, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Rachel Stack, Vice Chancellor for Advancement
Rich Walker, Vice Chancellor for Administration
