Campus Community,
On Thursday, February 4, 2021, the Illinois Department of Public Health indicated that Region 4 has moved to Phase 4 under Restore Illinois.
What does this mean for SIUE?
- Meetings, social events and gatherings are limited to the lesser of 50 people or 50% of overall capacity indoors or outdoors.
-
- More detailed Restore Illinois guidance about meetings and gatherings is available. Additional and specific Restore Illinois guidance is available for indoor and outdoor recreation, theaters and performing arts, youth and adult sports, outdoor spectator sports, and more.
- SIUE in-person events continue to require an Event Safety Plan for all meetings, social events and gatherings held on- or off-campus.
- For any events scheduled on or after February 4, 2021 event organizers should contact the campus facility coordinator, to inquire about options to expand the event attendance if desired.
- This is not applicable to students participating in in-person classroom learning and does not reduce COVID classroom capacities that follow IBHE guidance.
- Outdoor recreation is permitted in groups of up to 50 people.
- Overall capacity in the Student Fitness Center remains at 50% capacity.
-
- Equipment has been spaced out or de-commissioned to maintain social distancing.
- Participants are encouraged to work out during non-peak hours (mornings and early afternoons) to avoid potential capacity limits and wait times to enter the Student Fitness Center.
- Face coverings must be worn at all times in the Student Fitness Center, except when actively engaging in exercise.
Large Gatherings
This weekend many people would normally gather to watch the big football game. Attending large gatherings such as watch parties increases your risk of getting and spreading COVID-19. The safest way to watch the biggest game this year is at home with people you live with. If you do attend a large gathering, events and activities held outdoors are safer than indoor gatherings. Please continue to wear masks, wash hands, watch your distance and avoid crowded, poorly ventilated indoor spaces.
Your commitment to keeping yourself and our shared community safe is appreciated.
Take care and stay well.
