SIUE Community,
On Monday, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced that as of October 28, 2020 additional mitigations have been implemented for Region 4 under Restore Illinois.
We appreciate the continued commitment of the SIUE community to help stop the spread of COVID-19. We want our community to thrive, our institution to remain open, and our students and employees to remain healthy.
We continue to need your help as we battle the COVID-19 pandemic. We must continue to wear masks, wash our hands and watch our distance. We must avoid places where others aren’t wearing masks or following Illinois Department of Public Health mitigation, be cautious with your "bubble" and limit your contacts to limit exposure - steer clear of large gatherings, and complete a COVID screening test to be aware of your status.
What does this mean for SIUE?
These additional mitigations limit meetings, social events, and gatherings to the lesser of 25 guests OR 25% of overall room capacity. These mitigations do not affect classrooms at schools, colleges or universities. SIUE continues to follow IBHE guidelines to maintain classroom sizes to no more than 50 with 6-feet of social distance and face coverings required. SIUE in-person events continue to require an Event Safety Plan.
What if I had an event planned for 50 and need to reduce the number of guests?
For any events scheduled on or after Wednesday, October 28, event organizers should contact the campus facility coordinator to make necessary adjustments to comply with these new mitigations.
Please note that adjustments have been made in the Morris University Center and by Campus Recreation to ensure compliance. While guests are invited to visit the MUC’s operations, there is limited to no seating throughout the building. Queue set-ups are in place for both Starbucks and Center Court. Details on Campus Recreation’s facilities and operations are available online.
Your commitment to keeping yourself and our shared community safe is appreciated.
Take care and stay well.
