To the University Community,
As you most likely know by now, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has extended the “Stay-at-Home” Executive Order through May 31, which requires another modification to our evolving work relations.
While movement outside of the home should continue to be limited to essential activities as outlined in the Executive Order, the Order now requires wearing cloth face coverings in public where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. It also requires face coverings when in public indoor spaces, such as stores.
Please be assured, that SIUE will continue operations as we have since late March. Some employees remain critical in supporting operations that focus on facilitating distance education, essential operational functions, and services that support the health and well-being of those students living on campus.
Your dean, director or supervisor will work with you to ensure that you understand your assignment moving forward, while we continue to do our best to keep our regular employees in pay status whether working on campus, at home or at home on call. Meanwhile, please continue to practice social distancing and think about ways we can provide safer services and operations for faculty, staff, and students.
Consistent with the new Executive Order, a re-usable washable cloth face mask will be available to each employee for their personal use while working on campus. In accordance with the Order, the masks must be worn at work when maintaining a six-foot social distance is not possible. To assure compliance with the Order:
- Each employee can receive one mask and is responsible for keeping their mask clean
- Employees already utilizing a personal mask are welcome to continue utilizing their own
- Employees are also welcomed to voluntarily support the Student Emergency Assistance Fund.
- If you are working on campus and are still in need of a mask by end of day Monday, May 4, please call ext. 3560 and a Parking Service Agent will deliver one to your office
- Masks are available for on-campus employees, while in the office during the month of May or until the Stay-at-Home Order is lifted
- Remember that while the University remains restricted to visitors, many University operations continue. As we move forward, we will continue to evaluate our operations to determine if any changes are needed in order to provide essential services as outlined by the Governor. We will continue to do our best to keep you updated.
Meanwhile, be well and stay healthy,
Randy Pembrook, Chancellor
Denise Cobb, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Rachel Stack, Vice Chancellor for University Advancement
Rich Walker, Vice Chancellor for Administration
Jeffrey Waple, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
