Dear Campus Community,
I hope you all have had a productive and fulfilling week. Below is information to keep you in the loop regarding important campus updates:
- COVID Dashboard - The Health Service staff performed 137 screening tests and had a positivity rate of 2.54% for the week. This week’s confirmed positive cases for those self-reporting or those identified through SIUE testing were 32 for students and 1 for faculty/staff. The number of current 14-day new positive tests stands at 58 students and 3 faculty/staff.
For a more in-depth look at SIUE’s COVID numbers, please reference the COVID Dashboard by clicking here. Screening appointments can be scheduled here. Health Service will visit Woodland Hall on Tuesday, October 6, and the Cougar Village Commons Building on Wednesday, October 7, between 1:30-3 p.m. to conduct remote screening tests.
- Practice Your ABC’s - Along with practicing the 3 W's - wear a face covering, watch your distance and wash your hands - students, faculty and staff should be mindful of the ABC's to lower risk of COVID exposure:
- Avoid places where others aren’t wearing masks or following Illinois Department of Public Health mitigations
- Be cautious with your “bubble” - steer clear of large gatherings and limit your contacts to limit exposure
- Complete a COVID screening test to be aware of your status
- Faculty and Staff Counselor - Karen Banks has joined the SIUE family as a counselor for faculty and staff within SIUE Counseling Services. She will focus on supporting colleagues with concerns related to the impact of the current viral and racial crises. Ms. Banks trained at the CACREP Accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at UMSL, ranked #2 in the nation among counselor education programs. She brings approximately a decade of clinical experience to this role. To schedule an appointment, click here to be directed to the registration page on which a designated SIUE option will be listed. Through this portal, you will access pre-session intake documents to complete, a calendar of appointment availability and a secure portal through which communication is to occur.
- Discuss Listserv – A working group of 25 campus individuals, representing a broad base of constituency involvement, has met on three separate occasions to discuss the future of the Discuss listserv on campus. A final recommendation will be coming soon and will include an update to the current listserv policy along with parameters for its use, so that it will operate as a vehicle for collaboration, support and information-sharing. I will offer more details in an upcoming campus message.
Please continue to practice grace with one another and with yourselves. I’m proud to serve with you.
Best wishes for the weekend,
Randy Pembrook, Chancellor
