Colleagues,
I hope your spring 2022 semester is wrapping up nicely! Today and tomorrow, we will celebrate our 2,356 eligible graduates during seven commencement ceremonies—my absolute favorite time of year. Thank you to our many faculty and staff members who will assist in the success of these events!
With frustration and great disappointment, I must inform you that I will not be able to attend the ceremonies in person. I tested positive for COVID. With the health and safety of this community in mind, I am following isolation requirements as a fully vaccinated individual. I will be tuning in to watch the livestream of each commencement ceremony on siue.edu/tv and wish all of our participants the very best!
COVID continues to present challenging and unfortunate circumstances, but we will persevere. Allow me to share two other related updates:
- You may know that Gov. Pritzker recently extended the executive order requiring all higher education students and personnel to participate in weekly testing if they are not vaccinated. Individuals can schedule an appointment by clicking here.
- Information related to the reinstatement of COVID-related sick leave per Public Act 102-0697 is now available on our Human Resources website. Access the details here. Please review and direct any questions to hrcovid19@siue.edu.
As always, I thank you for your patience and cooperation as we go forward.
Sincerely,
James T. Minor, PhD
Chancellor
