Dear Campus Community,
As we look ahead to the spring 2022 semester, we must carefully consider how our actions and engagement over break will impact our Return to SIUE. We implore you to remember that proper mask wearing, handwashing and physical distancing remain key actions to reduce transmission of COVID-19. We also urge you to become vaccinated or receive a booster, if eligible, before returning to campus.
The University will reopen Monday, Jan. 3, and courses will begin as scheduled. Please review the information below related to SIUE’s implementation of re-entry testing in January. A reminder message with any additional details will be shared on Monday, Jan. 3.
Re-Entry Testing
Beginning Monday, Jan. 3, all community members, regardless of vaccination status, are expected to complete a SHIELD test on-campus upon their return to campus. Re-entry testing expectations apply to all students, faculty, and staff who are learning, living, working or participating in on-ground activities.
- The re-entry testing period for faculty, staff and students will occur from January 3-14.
- Upon return to campus, students, faculty, and staff, including those who are fully vaccinated, must complete a SHIELD test on-campus within 5 days of arrival to campus, and are encouraged to do so as soon as possible within that timeframe.
- Appointments are required and will become available 7 days prior to your desired testing date. When timing permits, schedule an appointment by clicking here.
- If you are on or near campus the week of January 3-7, we recommend that you schedule your test during that time period, as the campus testing site will be especially busy the week of January 10-14.
- Students, faculty, and staff returning to campus should limit their in-person interactions until re-entry testing results are received.
Importantly, individuals should not return to campus if they have tested positive for COVID-19 until the IDPH-directed isolation period has concluded.
Please note:
- Any individual who tests positive or has been a COVID close contact should complete the University’s Self-Disclosure form, which can be accessed by clicking here.
- For answers to anticipated FAQ’s and additional information on testing, vaccine and booster expectations, as well as COVID-19 weekly mandatory testing compliance, visit siue.edu/covid-plan.
- The University will be closed from December 23-January 2.
Enjoy your break. Be safe and stay well.
Sincerely,
Randy Pembrook, Chancellor
Denise Cobb, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Jessica Harris, Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
Rachel Stack, Vice Chancellor for University Advancement
Morris Taylor, Vice Chancellor for Administration
