Schedule a Covid Test
Individuals are required to register with SHIELD Illinois to make an appointment and complete COVID-19 testing.
Scheduling with an EXISTING SHIELD Illinois Account
Individuals who have already created an SIUE account with SHIELD can schedule their appointment directly at SHIELD Illinois.
Creating a NEW SHIELD Illinois Account
- Please log in to your SIUE Office 365 account (not a personal account) using your e-ID.
- Register for free testing & schedule an appointment.
- Complete the 6 questions and submit them.
- The confirmation page will give you a link to click on to get to the SHIELD site. Before clicking copy the appropriate agency code.
- Select “Sign up for an account” and submit the Agency Code when prompted, to create your account.
- Complete the online SHIELD registration.
- You will receive a verification code via email and text message to confirm your identity once you have submitted your information. Enter your verification code.
- Set your password.
- Make an appointment for your first COVID-19 saliva test.
- After confirming the appointment date and time, a QR code is generated. Please bring a screenshot/printout of that QR code to the appointment.
To receive your test results and to select a time to test in future weeks please go directly to the SHIELD site.
Notification of Results
Once the lab receives the samples, results are expected in approximately 24 hours, excluding weekends and holidays.
When test results are ready, you will receive an email and text directing you to sign on to SHIELD Illinois to retrieve your results.
Pursuant to public health protocols, the lab will automatically upload test results into the Illinois Department of Public Health database. Test results will be shared with the individual via email/text message. Results will also be shared with appropriate University departments on a need-to-know basis, as determined by the Pandemic CORE Team.
