Exemptions
Testing Exemptions
- Individuals who have completed the primary series of a COVID vaccine, submitted to the university, and received confirmation of university verification will not be required to complete weekly COVID testing. Students will see a hold/indicator in CougarNet indicating that they are exempt from weekly testing. This indicator DOES NOT restrict the student from conducting university business.
- Students who are taking a fully online class schedule as identified in Cougar Net, and do not plan to work on campus, utilize on campus services, or attend a on campus activity will automatically be excused from testing.
- Employees who have an ADA accommodation from the Office of Equal Opportunity, Access, and Title IX Coordination to work a fully remote schedule will automatically be excused from testing.
- Students who will be absent from campus for an entire week may complete a temporary campus request. More information is available on the Weekly Testing site.
COVID-related Illness Exemption
Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days or are actively in quarantine or isolation may receive a short-term exemption from testing.
- Currently in isolation/quarantine for COVID-19 should submit a COVID-19 Self-Report.
- Individuals who have a university-verified proof of a positive COVID test within the last 90 days AND a COVID Self-Disclosure on file do not need to test. If you have tested positive in the past 90 days but have not completed both forms, please do so to be excused from testing.
Vaccine Exemptions
Individuals may seek exemption from being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 if any of the following applies.
- Medical exemption: vaccination is medically contraindicated, including any individual who is entitled to an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act or any other law applicable to a disability-related reasonable accommodation. See request form for medical exemption for more information.
- Religious exemption: vaccination would require the individual to violate or forgo a sincerely held religious belief, practice, or observance. See request form for religious exemption for more information.
Even with an approved vaccine exemption, you are required to participate in the mandatory weekly testing. For more information visit the Tests & Screenings webpage.
