SIUE Dashboard
SIUE is committed to transparency of testing and trends of the virus within our entire community of students, faculty and staff.
Positive cases include data obtained from reports on self-disclosures, tests performed through SIUE’s on-campus surveillance testing, diagnostic testing at Student Health Service, and notifications from local county health departments.
The dashboard will update daily, Monday-Friday at 12:00 a.m. when the University is in session. Surveillance testing and isolation/quarantine space usage are updated weekly at 12:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Results from all SIUE surveillance testing locations is shared with the Illinois Department of Public Health and is reflected in state and county reporting, however there is a lag in reporting between our dashboard and that of the county and state.

Case Tracker
Updates daily, Tuesday-Saturday
Positive Cases: Data includes positive COVID-19 test data for students, faculty, and staff who have physically been on the Alton, East Saint Louis, and Edwardsville campuses starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to test specimen collection) until the time the individual is isolated based upon CDC guidelines . For additional information, hover your mouse over the bars or trend lines in the graph above.
Active Cases and Isolation/Quarantine Space Usage
Active Student and Faculty/Staff Cases updates daily, Tuesday-Saturday. Quarantine and Isolation Usage Updates Weekly on Saturday.
Active Student Cases: SIUE has determined the approximate number of students physically engaged with campus and determine that if the number of positive cases reaches 1.5% of that population (113 cases), it would remain in Expanded Mode with additional mitigations in place. Should the positive cases reach 5% (375) operations would shift to Limited Mode with additional mitigations in place. Active Student Positive Cases data will be monitored. If there is no significant decrease in cases over 14-day period current mitigation strategies will remain in place and additional mitigation strategies may be considered.
Active Faculty/Staff Cases: SIUE has determined the approximate number of faculty and staff physically engaged with campus and determine that if the number of positive cases reaches 1.5% (37) of that population, it would remain in Expanded Mode with additional mitigations in place. Should the positive cases reach 5% (124) operations would shift to Limited Mode with additional mitigations in place. Active Faculty/Staff Positive Cases data will be monitored. If there is no significant decrease in cases over 14-day period current mitigation strategies will remain in place and additional mitigation strategies may be considered.
Isolation/Quarantine Space Usage: SIUE has designated space in our University Housing facilities for residential students who need to isolate or quarantine, but who cannot do so off-campus. The college provides meals, access to SIUE Health Service, and other resources for students in quarantine or isolation housing. SIUE’s mitigation framework establishes two thresholds: at 50% usage additional mitigation strategies would be enacted in identified residential communities, at 80% usage a second layer of mitigations would be enacted in identified residential communities.
SIUE On-Campus Surveillance Testing
All information updates weekly on Saturday except Active Student and Faculty/Staff Cases which update daily, Tuesday-Saturday.
SIUE Surveillance Tests-Positive: The number of positive tests identified through Genetworx testing during mandatory re-entry testing and on-going surveillance testing period, and Athletics testing.
SIUE Surveillance Tests-Negative: The number of negative tests identified through Genetworx testing during mandatory re-entry testing and on-going surveillance testing periods, and Athletics testing.
Positivity Rate: The number of positive SIUE Surveillance tests divided by the number of total SIUE Surveillance Tests.
Active Student Cases: Total number of cases reported to SIUE for students (including student employees and GAs) who have physically been on the Alton, East Saint Louis, and Edwardsville campuses starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to test specimen collection) until the time the individual is isolated based upon CDC guidelines.
Active Faculty/Staff Cases: Total number of cases reported to SIUE for faculty, and staff who have physically been on the Alton, East Saint Louis, and Edwardsville campuses starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to test specimen collection) until the time the individual is isolated based upon CDC guidelines.

Historical Data by Week
Updates weekly, Tuesday-Saturday
Shown above are historical data for both positive surveillance tests and positive cases. Positive surveillance tests refer only to positive cases detected through use of SIUE's surveillance testing program. Surveillance testing was piloted in Fall 2020 and launched campus-wide in January 2021, which may account for an increase in detected positives in January 2021. Positive cases, shown here individually for students and for faculty & staff, refer to all positive cases, regardless of whether that case was detected through SIUE's surveillance testing program or through an off-campus source. Based upon CDC guidelines, this includes individuals who may have been on campus 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.
