An Important Message from the Kimmel Student Involvement Center
Posted June 6, 2020
The Kimmel Student Involvement Center condemns racism, injustice, and systemic oppression. We stand in solidarity with our Black students, staff, faculty, leaders, and community members. Black lives matter and we will continue to support the fight for justice. BLACK LIVES MATTER.
We acknowledge that our failure to respond to these injustices in a timely fashion have disappointed many of those that trust us to be leaders, advisors, and advocates for you. We take responsibility and apologize for our part in our silence and failure to act quickly. We can and must do better.
We are here…
- We are here to help you plan, organize and execute peaceful and meaningful events and programs that educate and support racial justice.
- We are here to connect you with campus trainings, counseling services and to access to resources (both financial and human) available to you as students.
- We are here to provide you with community engagement opportunities and connection to local agencies in our area that focus on social justices and equity.
- We are here to help your voice be heard.
Our commitment to you:
- We are committed to actively listening to the concerns of students and to make our office, programs and events as safe, supportive, and inclusive as possible.
- We are committed to continued education with our Kimmel team to be better and to do better in growing our own knowledge and understanding our own privilege and biases.
- We are committed to fighting all acts of racism.
