Dear Colleagues,
See below for an update regarding the application process and opportunity to give to the Racial and Social Justice Scholarship Endowment.
Among the most immediate actions taken by the Anti-Racism Task Force (ARTF) in summer 2020 was the establishment of the Racial and Social Justice Scholarship Endowment. We’re pleased with the fundraising progress of that important fund and thought it fitting to offer an update on that action item.
This endowment supports SIUE’s long-term goals to help students become lifelong learners and effective leaders. Eligible students include any enrolled student at SIUE with a GPA of at least 3.0. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to social justice, diversity, equity and SIUE values, and be willing to participate in anti-racism and social justice efforts on campus. The target date to award the first scholarship is fall 2021. The application will go live later this summer.
To date, more than $17,000 has been raised toward the goal of $25,000. Anyone interested in supporting this scholarship may give annually or to the endowment by visiting siue.edu/give-now/social-justice. Contact the SIUE Foundation at siuefoundation@siue.edu with any questions or concerns.
Thank you in advance for your generous support of this and other ARTF-related projects. We appreciate you!
Sincerely,
Randy Pembrook, Chancellor
Denise Cobb, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Jessica Harris, Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
Rachel Stack, Vice Chancellor for Advancement
