The Department of Mass Communications is accredited by the highly selective Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC). Out of thousands of programs internationally that teach subjects in mass communications, only about 100 meet the high standards of ACEJMC accreditation. Our curriculum seeks to educate students to be responsive to this fast-paced, ever changing professional environment. Students choose one of the three professional options offered at the school:

• Journalism
• Media production, and
• Advertising and strategic media.

While at SIUE, our students create documentary films, television shows, radio programs and digital animation in state-of-art studios, write for our award-winning newspaper, and develop advertising campaign.
