Xin Wang received the B.Sc. degree in electrical and communications engineering from Taiyuan University of Technology, China in 2006, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA in 2008 and 2011, respectively.

From August 2011 to July 2013 he worked as an assistant professor in the Oregon Institute of Technology, Oregon, USA.

In August 2013, he joined the faculty of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville Campus, Illinois, USA, where he is currently a tenured Full Professor. He is also the director of Basler Electric Power Systems Lab at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, focusing on designing power electronic applications and developing automatic control strategies for power and energy systems.

His current research interests include power systems, power electronics, electric machines, and control problems related to smart grid, robotics, and vehicle electrification. He has authored or co-authored more than 60 archival journal and conference publications in related areas.

He has been serving on the editorial boards of many IEEE and ASME transactions, journals and conferences in power systems, industrial electronics, and automatic control areas. Prof. Xin Wang is a senior member of the IEEE, ASME. In November 2019, he was awarded the IEEE Saint Louis Section 2019 Outstanding Educator Award.
