The barren,
graded soil within the hairpin driveway, with Lovejoy Library and Peck
Building in the background. Subsequently, in October 1967, the flagpole
on the right was dedicated to the memory of the construction workers who
lost their lives by accident while engaged in building the Edwardsville
campus.
