Legislative
negotiations had earmarked a potential $25 million from the statewide universities
bond issue specifically for the establishment of the Edwardsville campus.
While not all of those who might lose their property were enthusiastic,
many other people and businesses in Edwardsville endorsed the bond issue
of 1960.
