Workshops for Foreign Language Teachers 

Dr. Kathleen Bueno has a Ph. D. in Education (Saint Louis University) with a specialization in foreign language curriculum and instruction.  Dr. Bueno frequently gives presentations on topics related to foreign language pedagogy at conferences and she is available to provide teacher workshops for professional development.
Some of the topics include:

Integrating Technology in the Foreign Language Classroom:  Using electronic texts on CD ROM to develop second language reading skills, the role of chats and electronic bulletin boards in developing speaking and writing skills, developing electronic course supplement on WebCT, designing a web page and utilizing the web to bring authentic materials in the foreign language classroom.

Teaching About Culture and Developing Intercultural Skills:  Models and strategies for teaching culture, U. S. Latino cultures, lessons for discovering the culture of Spain, and promoting active learning through Web Quests and 'Filamentality' to explore Hispanic cultures.

Other Topics:  Foreign Languages in Elementary Schools (FLES), Foreign language curriculum and instruction in middle schools,  working with and relating to Hispanic students and their families, teaching ideas to implement the national and state standards for foreign languages, and cultural awareness and Spanish language workshops for school personnel.
