Develop new
curricula for all adult ESL classes and training teachers in ESL methodology
for community center in diverse urban neighborhood in Philadelphia.

and consulting, Save the Children-Mali, West Africa, 1994-1995
Assisted Save
the Children-Mali with curriculum development, led a workshop on action
research for community organizers, and designed and carried out an ethnographic
evaluation of the quality of education in a native-language village school
system.

Assistant, National Center on Adult Literacy, 1991-1992
Conducted
research on two projects funded by the National Center on Adult literacy. One
project explored the possibilities of using Head Start centers as sites for
adult and family literacy classes. The other was a long-term ethnographic
project investigating the relationship between first and second language
literacy in Cambodian and Puerto Rican communities and schools.

Taught adult
