On January 22, 2000, my daughter and I competed in the Utah Winter Games family and friends recreational ski race at Deer Valley, Utah. The action was captured by Channel 4 in Salt Lake City, a sponsor of the games. In the view above, we're out of the start gate in our first run.

In the second run, I had the most "spectacular" finish I've had in any ski race. As I approached the finish line, I did this, then crossed the line like this, which led to this comment by Channel 4. And all of this was shown on TV to thousands of viewers in Salt Lake City!

While I tumbled, my daughter sped down the course to win her age division, getting this gold medal recognition from Channel 4. Olympic champion Stein Eriksen put the actual medal around her neck at the awards ceremony.
