Development of the RSVP Program
a

The RSVP Program is a five session group therapy program developed specifically for the Madison County (Illinois) Juvenile Detention Center. The purpose of the program is to allow youth to identify stress and stressors in their life, to learn the relaxation techniques of deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and guided imagery, and to teach the importance of relaxation techniques as an alternative to violence.

Four audio tracks that can be downloaded at www.doctorjewell.com/relax.html will guide you through three relaxation skills. The first two tracks teach the skills of deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation. The third track teaches guided imagery and describes a beach scene. The fourth track also teaches guided imagery and can be used with whatever relaxing scene you wish. My thanks go out to my graduate research team for their help in preparing these tracks.
