Through a generous $500 grant from the Curtains Up Theater Company (CUTC). the SIU Edwardsville Friends of Theater and Dance (FOTAD) offers the CUTC Technical Theater Award to qualified students majoring in technical theater in the Department of Theater and Dance at SIUE.
CUTC awardees have the opportunity to enhance their portfolios by participating in set design and construction for the Spring and Summer CUTC productions.
The guidelines for the CUTC award are basically the same as the William Vilhauer Award in Technical Theater offered by FOTAD. The CUTC guidelines are as follows:
1) The CUTC Technical Theater Award is available to all declared Technical Theater majors with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher. Award decisions are made during spring semester and applicants must be enrolled full time in that current semester.
2) The $500 CUTC Technical Theater Award is given based on a face-to-face portfolio presentation and a personal interview.
3) All technical theater applicants must complete and submit the following items to the Department of Theater and Dance office (or on-line where applicable) no later than 4 p.m. on February 4, 2013:
Applicants will make a portfolio presentation to the FOTAD Awards Committee on Feb. 15, 2013, in the small dance studio on the second floor of Dunham Hall. Brief, personal interviews will be conducted with each applicant immediately following a portfolio presentation.
The Awards Committee will present its recommendations to the FOTAD Board by Feb. 17 for final approval, and will post winners in the department by Feb. 20.
