Cinderella OR The Story of Bigfoot......................................7 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014
This humorous retelling of the traditional story is a wonderful tale of how true beauty comes from within and that it's not just OK to be yourself, but that it's the only way to be. Full of unexpected twists, the story provides great characters including Ella Le Grand, an orphan living in her father’s house now run by her cruel and selfish stepmother. When she and her stepfamily are invited to the King’s ball, Ella is assisted by Dweezil Twistup, Fairy and God-dude Extraordinaire, and his sidekick Junior. When Ella finally meets Prince Alfonse XIII in his leather jacket and white T-shirt, she finds that he’s the coolest cat in the kingdom.
New Cabaret Dinner Theater Takes Place Of Mystery Dinner Theater
Singing and dancing will take center stage Sunday, Nov. 3, as the SIUE Friends of Theater and Dance (FOTAD) present Janie Adamson’s For Love or Money: A Cabaret, an evening of great entertainment for FOTAD’s Annual Dinner Theater.
Entering a new era that focuses on SIUE’s talented theater and dance majors, FOTAD has decided to change from its tradition of hosting a mystery dinner theater in the fall. “We felt it was time to showcase the wonderful students who are learning theater and dance skills here in our own backyard,” said Kate Slovinski, FOTAD president. “Our mission is to award scholarship funds to these students, so why not show the world why we love these kids so much.
“I think the patrons who enjoyed the mystery dinner theater events of the past will enjoy this new cabaret style we’re presenting,” Slovinski said.
Proceeds from the Nov. 3 event will benefit the organization’s scholarship fund for SIUE theater and dance majors. Reservations must be made by Oct. 31.
The entertaining cabaret will take place in the University Restaurant on the second floor of SIUE’s Morris University Center.
Doors open at 6:15; the cabaret starts around 7 p.m. and dinner will be served shortly thereafter.
Tickets are still $40 per person and include a full dinner. For reservation information, or to make a reservation with a credit card by Oct. 31, call the SIUE Fine Arts box office, (618) 650-2774, or, from St. Louis toll-free, (888) 328-5168, Ext. 2774.
