Abstract
The SIUE Chem Club has organized a large no. of educational and social events. Educational events include educating the public about the importance of flu shots, setting up many different demonstrations for children in the community, and helping with chemistry demonstrations for the Boy Scouts. Social events include different holiday parties where the club members are able to mingle with their professors outside of the academic environment. The club is also continuing to support Cougars Volunteering for Science, where members travel to different area schools and do general science and chem. related demonstrations to educate the children and get them more interested in science. SIUE Chem Club is also setting up the annual Probst lecture, where a world-reknowned speaker speaks on campus for two days. This year’s speaker will be Dr. Mark Von Itzstein and he will be speaking about viruses to the students who attend the lecture.
