MAP ASSIGNMENT

Instructions:

A. Download and printout outline maps and fill in the following information on each map: names of each country listed and its capital (locate properly on the map), major mountains, rivers and lakes. Ask reference librarian for assistance. Information can be found in Hopkins, Latin America, chapter three or in Paul Goodwin, Jr. Global Studies: Latin America, fifth edition. Include all of the countries listed below:

Argentina, Antigua/Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, Suriname, Trinidad/Tobago, Uruguay, and Venezuela.


B. Download and printout the Student Activity Sheet and fill in the information requested for ONE of the following countries:

Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, Jamaica, Haiti, or Puerto Rico.

C. In addition, make four list with the following information:

a. the three richest nations (using Per Capita Income)
b. the three poorest nations (using Per Capita Income)
c. the three countries with the largest populations
d. the three countries with the smallest populations

Information available in Hopkins, Latin America, chapter three or any good standard current (within last 5 years) reference on Latin America and the Caribbean, such as the Global Studies: Latin America, (10th edition, 2003) or David L. Clawson Latin America & the Caribbean: Lands and Peoples, Benchmark and Brown Publishers (1997).
