Place 1 drop lactophenol cotton blue (LPCB) on slide.

Add loopful of Saccharomyces (plate IA).

Cover with cover slip. Warm in burner.

Materials and method:

Prepare clean slide.

Place 1 drop LPCB on slide.

Collect sample of Mucor alternans from plate IB with tape loop.

No cover slip necessary. Warm in burner.

Observe/draw: filaments and asexual reproductive structures (sporangium and sporangiospores)

Part IC:

Materials and method:

Prepare clean slide.

Place 1 drop LPCB on slide.

Add 1 drop Mucor alternans (tube IC).

Cover with cover slip. Warm in burner.

Observe/draw: dimorphic organism, budding

Part IIA:

Materials and method:

Prepare clean slide.

Add 1 drop of Candida albicans (tube IIA).

Cover with cover slip. (no LPCB or warming)

Observe/draw: germ tubes

Part IIC:

Materials and method:

Prepare clean slide.

Add 1 drop of Cryptococcus neoformans (tube IIC) already in India ink.

Cover with cover slip.

Observe/draw: capsule

Part III:

Materials and method:

Prepare clean slide.

Place 1 drop LPCB on slide.

Collect sample of Microsporum gypseum from plate III with a tape loop.

No cover slip needed. Warm in burner.

Observe/draw: macroconidia, microconidia
