Associate Professor of Civil Engineering BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH William Bradford Cross was awarded the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in May 1984 from the University of Maryland. In 1983 he began work with the architectural engineering firm of Allison, McCormac, and Nickolaus in Baltimore, where he was employed until 1989. He received his Professional Engineering license in Maryland in 1987 and his Structural Engineering license in Illinois in 1997. He was awarded the Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins in 1992. He has continued to consult as a structural engineer, doing work for Integrated Design and Construction in Silver Spring, Maryland, McCormac Engineering in Baltimore, Maryland, and Forensic Technologies International in Annapolis, Maryland. He has been an assistant professor with the Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Illinois since September 1992, where he performs research in the area of the seismic retrofit of existing structures. He also teaches steel design classes and coordinates the capstone design course. He is a member and past chair of the Earthquake Engineering Technical Committee of the St. Louis Section of ASCE, Chair of the Steering Committee of the New Madrid Chapter of EERI, and is a member of the National ASCE Seismic Effects Committee. e-mail: bcross@siue.edu |
