MASTER’S PROJECTS

 

Before the CMIS department changed requirements for completion of the Master’s degree, students had to complete a Master’s thesis.  I was on 30 committees for the Master’s project theses.  I was chair for three of them.

            Structured Systems – CMIS270

                   First of a two-part course on Systems Analysis and Design.  Covers the SDLC in depth.  Students complete semester long project incorporating

                        steps of SDLC in simulated application project.   

 

Structured Systems and Design Part II – CMIS470

       Second of a two-part course on Systems Analysis and Design.  Covers numerous analysis and design methodologies including RAD, LPI, XP, Object Oriented (including UML), and Oracle.  Students complete a semester long research project on an IT topic of their choice.

 

Structured Systems Analysis and Design – CMIS570

       Graduate level SA&D course.  Covers numerous methodologies including SDLC, RAD, LPI, XP, OO/UML, Oracle.  Also includes project management and application of methodology to organization application system. 

 

 

Computer Concepts and Applications - CMIS 108

       Introductory undergraduate course.   Covers numerous computer concepts and applications including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Oracle.

            Responsible for coordinating work and facilitating communication between programmers and end-users in the Pensions Division.  This included writing

            business and detail specifications and preparing project plans and schedules for implementation.  Also responsible for researching new software needs and

            uses, recommending new software packages for purchase, and training end-users on new systems and software.

 

 

Senior Programmer/Analyst, Reinsurance Department, American United Life Insurance Company

            Indianapolis, Indiana, October 1988 – January 1993

 

            Performed duties of programmer, programmer analyst, and systems analyst in the Reinsurance Division.  Responsible for all phases of assigned projects

            from analysis to implementation.

 

 

Systems Engineer, Electronic Data Systems Corporation

            Dayton, Ohio, June 1985 – October 1988

 

            Responsible for the redesign of GMAC’s business function Collections.  This was accomplished using the techniques of structured analysis and design

            using data and process modeling.  This involved extensive interaction with the customer and intense analysis of the current and desired global system

            processes.
