The SIUE Weight Management Program has been operating since 2009 and consists of ongoing internal and externally funded clinical research projects. The program uses a holistic approach to cover all aspects of successful weight reduction and weight management, including nutrition, physical activity, and the emotional/cognitive aspects of behavior change. We approach weight management as a lifestyle change, one that will be made over time and continued through life. We have safely and successfully helped many individuals lose weight and keep it off. The SIUE Weight Management Program investigates different dietary, behavior, and exercise-based strategies and their effects on long-term weight management. The cornerstone of the program is the weekly lifestyle clinic, which serves as both an educational forum and a support group. Weight management is a set of learned behaviors, thus the clinics are designed to teach and promote those behaviors. All classes are developed by a multidisciplinary staff of registered dietitians, exercise physiologists, and behavioral psychologists.
Our 9-12 month program includes a dietary analysis, physical activity assessment (in a private setting) and body composition testing. Meetings are scheduled for afternoons or evenings at the Vadalabene Center, 35 Circle Drive, Edwardsville, Illinois on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. All participants are required to obtain physician clearance prior to beginning the program. We will provide you the physician clearance document to send to your physician.
Our team is dedicated to your success and will work with you to achieve your goals as you make this life changing choice. We will be there giving you support with every opportunity to succeed.
