Documents posted on websites should be in an accessible format, such as a .pdf file, so they can be accessed by anyone. Word files (.doc) and other files that require a pay program to view, are not accessible. PDF's can be viewed using Adobe Reader, which is free to download and use. If your department owns Adobe Acrobat, you can convert files to .pdf by selecting "Adobe PDF" from the print menu within Word, or whatever program you used to create the document. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat, you can use one of the following free tools to convert your online documents to .pdf. (NOTE: Make sure you keep the original file from which you created your .pdf file. If you need to make changes to your .pdf file in the future you'll have to make the change on the original file and then recreate the .pdf file from the original file.)
