The Nelson/Wagner Print Collection was established as a repository for impressions from print runs at the contract print shop established by the Department of Art & Design. The shop was located within the department which was housed in the former Wagner Electric plant which had originally been established by N. O. Nelson as a manufacturing facility for plumbing fixtures. As a quasi commercial enterprise, the shop was only in operation from about 1977 to 1983. There are a couple of pieces in the collection with later accession numbers, but they are impressions created at the shop while it was in operation. The shop was available to faculty, students and visiting artists..
