EXPLANATION OF LONGEVITY INCREASE PROCEDURES

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Position must be open range civil service or administrative professional staff (Not represented)

Position must have a PDQ rank

Year in position is defined as the calendar year the employee began doing the job or the calendar year of the last salary change based on a change in the duties and responsibilities (PDQ evaluation). For example if you began your current job in 1990 but your duties were increased and your PDQ level was increased or you were given a salary increase for the additional duties in 1995, your year in position would be 1995.

Longevity is calculated by subtracting the 'Year in Position' from the current calendar year. For example this is 2003 and if your 'Year in Position' is 1999 you would be in your 4th year.

The amount of increase is based on a percent of the midpoint of your PDQ level as defined below:

Years in Position Percent of Midpoint

>0 <3 95%

>3 <6 100%

>6 <10 103%

>10 <15 106%

>15 <20 109%

>20 . 112%
