The Provost has provided up to $1000 this academic year to encourage formal and informal interactions which integrate faculty from several different departments and schools. In this document, these interactions will be called "Faculty Conversations." The guidelines for seeking funding follow.
1. Any SIUE faculty member may apply for funding to sponsor an event.
2. Guidelines for Proposal
* Explain and justify the event or series of events. Include how "conversations" will fit into the event.
* State the intended audience, publicity to that audience, and number expected to attend the event. The event must be of interest to faculty in more than one discipline.
* Provide a budget, both amount needed and supplier. Costs might include refreshments, a small honorarium for an outside speaker or discussion leader, or advertisement expenses such as printing or an ad in the Alestle.
* A one page narrative plus budget should be sufficient.
* Within 30 days after the "Faculty Conversation" a brief final report must be submitted which gives the approximate attendance, problems and/or successes, and similar information to provide evaluation for the continuation of this program.
3. Send your proposal electronically to Chair of the Faculty Conversations Committee, Rebecca Lindell, rlindel@siue.edu. If you have any questions you may reach Dr. Lindell at ext. 2934.
