A number of study abroad scholarships are available. They include an SIUE Study Abroad Scholarship, program specific scholarships, and other externally funded scholarships. Study Abroad Scholarships may be based on academic achievement, financial need, world region and other criteria.

The SIUE Study Abroad Ambassador Scholarship is based on a combination of academic performance, financial need and a willingness to serve as a "Study Abroad Ambassador" upon your return to SIUE. These awards are funded by the SIUE Office of International Programs in an effort to increase the number of SIUE undergraduate students participating in study abroad and to encourage returned study abroad students to be more involved with the Study Abroad Office outreach, social media and various events.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship offers competitive scholarship awards of up to $5,000 for semester long study abroad for US citizen undergraduate students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding at a 2- or 4-year college or university.

The Foundation for Global Scholars (FGS) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in Westminster, Colo., serving U.S. undergraduate and graduate students pursuing academic and internship programs abroad. Since its inception, FGS has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to more than 1,000 college students from all the over United States. Scholarship awards range from $500-$2,500 for programs varying in length from 6 weeks to a year.

ISA offers several levels of scholarship help for applicants to ISA programs. Each is based on academic record and individual financial need.

The Dr. Ina Stegen Scholarship for Salzburg College of $2,000 is open to students of all majors for their first semester of study abroad at Salzburg College, an SIUE direct placement program.

CEA, Cultural Experiences Abroad, offers several unique CEA scholarship opportunities to students who have applied to or been accepted to a CEA Program.

Each year, AIFS (American Institute for Foreign Study) awards more than $600,000 in AIFS scholarships and grants to deserving students. Funds are available both for summer and semester-long AIFS programs. Additionally, through SIUE's affiliation with AIFS, SIUE students automatically receive a $400 grant for semester-long AIFS programs and a $200 grant for summer programs.

Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants are designed to help support undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad. Fifty, $1,000 grants are awarded each year.

Boren Awards provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. students to add an important international and language component to their education. Boren awards focus on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad. 

BUTEX offers scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad at a BUTEX-affiliated university in the United Kingdom. The value of each scholarship is £500 and is paid to the selected recipients once they have arrived and registered at the U.K. host university.

SRISA in Florence, Italy is offering a $700 voucher toward travel costs for accepted students, as well as number of other scholarships.
