(August 30, 1917 - January 6, 2011)

John D. Kendall, was instrumental in bringing the Suzuki Music Method to the United States. In 1959, Mr. Kendall travelled to Japan where he met and worked with Shinichi Suzuki . Professor Kendall developed and directed the Suzuki program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for more than thirty years, until his retirement in 1987.

We are saddened at the loss of this influential music educator and colleague. We remember John Kendall's many years of dedicated teaching, concertizing and sharing his inspiring Suzuki music method expertise here at SIUE and throughout the world.
