Fall 2016 Safe Zone Ally Training

Safe Zone is offering Ally Training again!  Training is being offered on two dates: Friday, October 28th (1-3:30 PM) and Friday, November 4th (9-11:30 AM).  The goal of training is to provide attendees skills and understanding for supporting the LGBT community.  You must pre-register to attend this training.  Space is limited, so sign up now!  Register at https://goo.gl/forms/hHQsUjiw06pRaGo33

Safe Zone Training Requests

We are able to offer additional training sessions for our general ally training as well as more in-depth training around specialized topics. If you would like to request Safe Zone Training outside of our normal fall and spring semester training dates please submit a Safe Zone Training Request Form.

We will do everything possible to accommodate all requests. Please keep in mind that we have a limited number of volunteer facilitators.

Goals of Safe Zone Training

To develop:

  • Listening and helping skills
  • Inclusive habits in the classroom, the office, and on larger scales
  • A common base of understanding with respect to the LGBT community

To provide information regarding:

  • Terms regarding sexual orientation and gender identity
  • The complexity of sexuality
  • Campus and community contacts
