Purpose

To provide a supportive environment for students working in intensive majors within the School of Engineering.

Opportunities

Students have the opportunity to create supportive study groups for college level science and math courses that can be challenging. Students will gain from the experience of faculty members and upperclass mentors through involvement in this FIC.

Programs

Students in the Engineering FIC participate in study groups, work on the Trebuchet catapult project together, and have held Video Game tournaments to relax and take a breather from tough course work.

Students in this community are offered an opportunity to be registered in a section of IE 106. This course is an education requirement for most majors in the School of Engineering, but not all. Students are encouraged to discuss with their advisor how to fit this course into their degree plan. Computer Science majors will be enrolled in CS 111.

Location

The Engineering and Technology FIC is located in Bluff Hall.

New students wishing to become part of a Focused Interest Community should indicate their interest on their University Housing application.
