Overview

Bluff Hall opened in August 2001 and houses first-year residents. It is home to three Focused Interest Communities: Engineering and Technology, Health Professionals and Major Explorations.

All first-year buildings are fully furnished, air conditioned, smoke-free and feature suite style facilities – two persons share each room and four persons share a bathroom. Each wing has an academic lounge for quiet study and a social lounge containing a kitchenette, microwave, and cable television. Bluff Hall boasts an activity wing with rooms for academic and social programs and a 24-hour computer lab. All residents of Bluff Hall, Prairie Hall and Woodland Hall are required to purchase a meal plan. Residence halls are staffed 24 hours a day with controlled access and video surveillance. Regular patrols of the area are conducted by University Police.

Bluff Hall residents can participate in a number of academic and social programs. Residents can run for the Bluff Area Council executive board, attend Area Council meetings or join the Residence Housing Association (RHA). Both the Bluff Area Council and RHA host programs and social opportunities, influence Housing policy and work with other organizations within Housing and on campus.
