Electronic Theses and Dissertation (ETD) provides a new method for graduate students at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) to submit theses, dissertations and doctoral research projects for approval to the Graduate School through ProQuest/UMI.
The ETD provides a technologically advanced medium for expressing ideas by incorporating multimedia objects. Students can prepare their manuscripts using nearly any word processor or document preparation system. Manuscripts must be submitted as ad single PDF document file. Students may submit supplemental files. Your ETD may include color diagrams, color images, hypertext links, audio, video, animations, spreadsheets, databases, simulations, maps, photographs, and virtual reality worlds. students may submit supplemental files (e.g. audio, video, maps, datasets and photographs). Your ETD provides these benefits:
The title of a thesis, dissertation or doctoral research project MUST be filed with Graduate Records using the " Registration of Thesis Title " form which is due the first day of the graduation term. Students should contact Graduate Records for questions.
Your thesis, dissertation, or doctoral research project will be publicly available soon after the date of degree conferral of the graduation period for which the manuscript is submitted. There are delayed release options that students can select at no additional charge beyond the ETD Processing Fee.
All theses, dissertations, or doctoral research projects will be made electronically and there will no longer be a paper submission option. Students will be charged a $95 processing fee by ProQuest/UMI. Fees will be assessed only to students who have completed the entire submission process.
All theses, dissertations, and doctoral research projects must satisfy Graduate School requirements in order to be approved. To facilitate the revision process, please submit a complete draft. A thesis or doctoral project will ordinarily be rejected if it is incomplete, has misspelled words, has less than the required space in the margins, does not have the corresponding headings, etc. The text should be clearly organized in accordance with the standards for the discipline, for example:
Organization of Materials: (See Templates)
For each graduation period, there is a deadline by which the thesis/doctoral deposit with the Graduate School Office must be completed. All corrections and required materials must be received by the Graduate School no later than 4:45 p.m. on the day of the deadline . Submitting your thesis well before the end of the term will enable you to receive feedback earlier for completion.
To begin your ETD submission, your manuscript should be submitted to the Graduate School only after it has been formatted according to Graduate School Guidelines .
The following templates are provided to use for formatting your thesis or doctoral manuscript. These templates will help you meet the Graduate School specifications. For submission, these must be included with your manuscript as a SINGLE pdf file.
