Faculty enhancement programs provide items such as books and other materials needed for teaching and research projects. Some programs may even include release time for research. Through such programs and the privately-funded Hoppe Research Professor Award and Vaughnie Lindsay Research Professorship Award, SIUE will continue to attract and retain an excellent faculty.
One example of faculty support is The Hoppe Research Professor Award. The Hoppe Award recognizes faculty members whose research or creative activities can make significant contributions to their field of study. The award supports a significant portion of a faculty member’s larger research agenda. This competitive award encourages research at SIUE, which supports SIUE’s mission of valuing faculty research.
Another example where contributions provide faculty support is the Vaughnie Lindsay Research Professorship Award. Named in honor of former Graduate School Dean Vaughnie Lindsay this award serves to encourage the supportive atmosphere at SIUE for finding internal and external support for faculty research. Awarded for a two-year time period, the professorship provides 50% assigned time for research.
