One way donors can make an direct impact on the students at SIUE is by funding a scholarship or an award or giving to an existing scholarship or award.
Scholarships may provide financial assistance up to the total educational costs for attending SIUE. There are several items to take into consideration when establishing a scholarship. For example, the scholarship may be endowed or non-endowed, or may be awarded based on merit or financial need. Criteria such as a particular course of study, or graduation from a certain high school also may be considered.
Donors also may choose to help support the Premier Scholarship Programs at SIUE: the Chancellor’s Scholarship Program and the Presidential Scholarship Program.
Awards are given to students to recognize academic achievement or outstanding ability in the arts, academics, leadership or athletics. Like scholarships, awards may be endowed or non-endowed and may specify the criteria the recipient must meet to receive the award. Many student awards are given at an honors ceremony that recognizes the accomplishments of SIUE students.
