Financial Aid Adviser Coordinator

Job Description/Responsibilities 
The Financial Aid Adviser Coordinator, under Administrative supervision, is responsible for counseling and advising financial aid applicants, their parents, and the general public about financial aid and its availability.  Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing a clear and accurate explanation of financial aid requirements and eligibility criteria to students, parents and others
  • Serving as financial aid intake counselor and telephone counselor on a rotating basis 
  • Developing adequate knowledge of record flow within office computer system to accurately interpret student records
  • Advising students on University payment policies and procedures and how they relate to SFA
  • Working effectively as a team member
  • Advising students on University payment policies and procedures in order to assist in the development of policy and procedures for financial aid program administration and office operations
  • Developing adequate knowledge of record flow within Banner (office computer system) to accurately interpret and revise applicants’ records, including recalculation of financial need

The Financial Aid Adviser Coordinator may be assigned additional related duties and responsibilities in support of the department’s mission and goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school graduation or equivalent
  2. Any one or any combination that equals three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:
       a. General office experience
       b. College course work in any field
         • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
         • Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals two (2) years (24 months)
         • 90 semester hours equals three (3) years (36 months)
         • Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals four (4) years (48 months)
  3. One (1) year (12 months) of experience in working with student employment, student financial aid/loans, student admissions/recruitment, scholarship/grant programs or other closely related work experience

$2,558 per month
