Building Services Supervisor – Evenings Inventory Lead

Job Description/Responsibilities
This position supervises employees and the work involved in building service activities (such as cleaning, floor treatment, refuse disposal, recycling collection, event set ups, pest control, and other similar functions) to maintain a pleasant, healthy and safe environment for the entire university community and the public.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervision: Supervising employees including training safety oversight, hiring, discipline, evaluations and performance management manages time and attendance.  Performs inspections, reviews inspection reports and results with employees, gives guidance on how to improve performance.  Supervises and directs the work of personnel assigned to building service activities like cleaning and event set ups, revising assignments when necessary.
  • Management Assistance: Assisting in the development and administration of an effective, efficient cleaning program: procedures and work methods by means of periodic inspections and special studies; department budgets.  Conducting comparative tests and estimates effective of new products, equipment and techniques.  Seeking more sustainable operations through environmentally friendly and efficient cleaning methods, supplies and equipment.
  • Lead Inventory: Managing inventory process for equipment and supplies, consolidating information, recommending order quantities and replacements.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school graduation or equivalent
  2. Three years of experience in building service operations or related work, one year of which included the supervision of others.

Additional Experience and Personal Attributes Desired by Hiring Unit

  1. Additional four years of experience in building services (preferred), two of which include supervision of others; experience at similar institutional setting; experience with computerized maintenance management and quality control systems; experience working in a union environment.
  2. Extensive knowledge of accepted cleaning methods, techniques, equipment used in institutional building services
  3. Knowledge of all facets of building service operations
  4. Ability to conduct and interpret results of tests with various kinds of cleaning equipment and supplies
  5. Supervisory ability for a large staff
  6. Ability to read and write work-related communications, reports, etc. and to communicate orally to all segments of the University population
  7. Ability to prioritize and easily adapt to changing requirement and resources
  8. Experience using a computer and ability to use Microsoft Office software

Salary
$3,554 per month
