Assistant Professor of Sociology

Job Description
SIUE is seeking candidates who are capable of teaching statistics and research methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and have strong interest in Applied Sociology. Area of specialization is open. Duties include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, active scholarship, service, and supervision of graduate and undergraduate internships and independent research. Position will carry a 3-3 teaching load.

The department offers undergraduate and graduate majors in Sociology, an undergraduate applied sociology option in Employment Relations, and an undergraduate major in Criminal Justice Studies.

Qualifications Required
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Sociology, but ABDs very near completion will be considered (If Ph.D. is not completed at the beginning of the contract period, a one year term appointment will be made at the rank of Instructor).

Terms of Appointment
Tenure-track contract for 9 month academic year beginning August 16, 2014; summer teaching may be available.
