How do I apply?
If applying for a Master's Degree or Specialist Degree, you will need to complete a Classified Graduate Application http://www.siue.edu/apply/. Depending on which program you select, you may also need to complete a program application as well.
Will I receive a paper bill in the mail?
The university does not mail out paper bills anymore. You can go to CougarNet and view your billing statement from there. Go to: www.siue.edu/cougarnet and select "financial".

Which classes do I need to take to become licensed to work with gifted children?
SIUE at this time does not offer classes for gifted education.
MASTER'S DEGREE COMPLETION DATE
How long do I have to complete a Master's Degree?
SIUE allows you six years from the date of the first transferred course (or date of admission, whichever is earlier) to complete your degree.

Do I have to take the Miller's Analogy Test?
The Miller's Analogy test is no longer required.

If I plan on enrolling in an off-campus program, can I still take a class at another location?
Yes, you are always welcome to take classes at another location.
TEACHING LICENSE RENEWAL
What do I do if my teaching license has lapsed and I want to take courses to renew my teaching license plus work on a master's at the same time?
You need to first contact the Regional Office of Education www.isbe.state.il.us/regionaloffices/Default.htm about getting your teaching license reinstated. You are welcome to take graduate level courses, but some programs do require a current teaching license before you are fully admitted.
Where do I purchase my textbooks?
Books may be purchased through the bookstore online http://books.siue.bookstore.com or in person. You can also purchase books through an on-line vendor such as Amazon.com or half.com.
What is a tuition waiver?
A tuition waiver is issued to teachers who host SIUE students in their classroom, either for an observation or student teaching. Principals also receive 3 credit hour waivers if they've hosted 5 or more SIUE students in their building over the course of a year. The waivers can be transferred within a district.
Can I take courses without being admitted into a program?
Limits on the number of credits that may be presented for transfer vary by degree level and by program. Ordinarily, no more than one-third of the number of hours required to complete the graduate degree program may be transfer credits.
UNCLASSIFIED STATUS TO CLASSIFIED STATUS
When should I apply for graduate status if I have been attending as an unclassified graduate student?
You should apply for graduate status at least one semester before you reach your 12 unclassified hours in order to allow enough time for review and approval of your application.
